Hello Melissa, you don't need the elastic bands. Once the collar is fully adjusted, you can cut off the excess band behind the slider (it has to go through the slider!) and burn the end with a lighter. Then it won't be too long and you won't need to fix it with the elastic band.

Our company dogs Charlotte and Ringo are also intensive users of the K9 Maxi bed and in fact the bed/cover can be a little noisier in the first few days of use than you (or the dog) might expect.
