Charlotte’s Choice is a Swiss company specializing in high-quality, robust, and functional dog equipment – focused on large dogs, very strong dogs, and service dogs.

We develop and distribute wide dog collars, particularly sturdy leashs, tactical harnessess, personalized patches, oversized dog beds, and other accessories for dogs where standard products often fall short. Our focus is on safety, comfort, durability, and practicality.

Our customers are owners of large dog breeds, dog sports enthusiasts, service dog handlers, search and rescue dog handlers, and people who are not just looking for a nice collar for their dog, but a product they can truly trust. Many of our customers own Malinois, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Cane Corsos, Great Danes, Dogo Argentinos, XL Bullies, Mastiffs, and other large or very strong dogs.

Numerous service dogs from police, military, security services, and search and rescue teams also wear products from Charlotte’s Choice. These dogs have special requirements for materials, workmanship, and functionality – exactly for these requirements we develop our products.

Why Charlotte’s Choice was created

Charlotte’s Choice was born out of a very personal reason: We ourselves have two large Great Dane mixes weighing around 50 and 62 kg.When we were looking for suitable collars for them, we quickly realized that many products on the market were not suitable for really large dogs.

The collars were often too narrow, too short, insufficiently padded, or simply not robust enough. This is a real problem, especially for large and strong dogs. A collar must not only fit and look good, but also protect the dog's neck, close securely, and withstand the strength of a large dog.

This experience led to the idea of developing dog collars and accessories that are specifically tailored to the needs of large dogs. Not as mass-produced items, but with thoughtful details, high-quality materials, and a clear focus on safety.

Wide collars for large dogs

A central theme at Charlotte’s Choice is wide dog collars.

Many conventional collars are too narrow for large dogs. This can become particularly problematic when a dog leash pulls or needs to be held short in certain situations. A narrow collar only distributes the pressure over a small area. This can lead to strong pressure on the larynx, cervical spine, and soft tissues.

For large dogs, we therefore recommend collars with a wider contact area. As a rough guideline: The collar should be at least approximately as wide as the dog's nose bridge. For a Great Dane, a Cane Corso, or a similar dog, this often means a width of at least 5 cm.

Our collars are therefore available in various widths – from 2.5 cm to 4 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm, and up to particularly wide 10 cm collars. This way, the collar can be chosen to match the size, strength, and anatomy of the dog.

Wide collars provide more surface area, can better distribute pressure, and ensure more comfort in everyday life, during training, and in demanding situations.

Robust collars with original AustriAlpin Cobra buckles

Many of our collars are equipped with original Cobra buckles from AustriAlpin. These buckles originally come from areas where absolute reliability is crucial, including alpine sports, scaffolding, personal safety equipment, military, and professional applications.

The Cobra buckle is known for its high load capacity, secure locking, and quick handling. It can only be opened by simultaneously pressing both sides of the closure, making it particularly safe for daily use.

For large dogs, strong dogs, and service dogs, a reliable buckle is a crucial detail. Because with a powerful dog, a collar must not unintentionally open, tear, or fail under load.

Our Cobra collars therefore combine high safety with comfort, style, and practicality. They are suitable for walks, training, dog sports, service dogs, rescue dogs, and all situations where a dog needs to be controlled and safely led.

For service dogs, rescue dogs, and strong everyday companions

Charlotte’s Choice is chosen by many customers whose dogs are not just companions, but have real tasks.

This includes police dogs, military dogs, rescue dogs, search dogs, sport dogs, and dogs in professional use.Malinois and German Shepherds particularly often wear our collars, leashn and patches.

These dogs need equipment that is robust, functional, and reliable. At the same time, it must not disturb the dog. That is why we offer various solutions depending on the area of use: collars with or without a handle, tactical leashn, wide leashn, short leads, patches, reflective or infrared reflective variants, and harnesses for different requirements.

For search dogs, for example, it may be important that a collar does not have an additional handle so that the dog does not get caught in the terrain. For other dogs, an integrated short handle is very practical, for instance, during dog encounters, in city traffic, on public transport, or in restaurants.

We ensure that each product not only looks good visually but also makes sense in practice.

Especially sturdy leashs for large and strong dogs

In addition to collars, robust dog leashes are among the most important products from Charlotte’s Choice.

Especially with large dogs, a normal standard leash is often not sufficient. The leash must fit well in the hand, withstand high tensile loads, and be reliably connected to the collar or harness .

That’s why we offer particularly sturdy leashs for large dogs, strong dogs, and service dogs. This includes wide leashs, thick leashs, tactical leashs, multifunction leashes, and models with particularly durable carabiners.

Many of our leashs are suitable for everyday use as well as for training, dog sports, or professional deployments. They help to lead the dog safely without having to compromise on comfort and style.

Dog harnesses and tactical equipment

In addition to collars and leash, we also offer dog harnesses for large dogs and service dogs.

Our harnesses are designed for dogs that need stable, well-fitting, and functional equipment. This includes tactical harnesses, front clipharnesses, harnesses with Velcro areas for patches, and models for active dogs that are led during training, hiking, or in service.

Fit, material quality, and meaningful details are particularly important to us. A harness must be stable but should not unnecessarily restrict the dog. It should fit well, be easy to put on, and match the intended use.

Personalized collars, patches, and custom-made products

Many products from Charlotte’s Choice can be personalized.

This includes collars with names, phone numbers, Velcro areas, embroidered patches, reflective patches, service dog patches, "Do Not Touch" patches, and many other custom solutions.

Especially for large dogs, service dogs, or dogs with special needs, personalization can be very helpful. A patch can clearly communicate that a dog is on duty, needs space, or should not be touched.

We listen carefully to our customers and regularly implement new ideas. Many products in our range have been created because owners of large dogs have pointed out a specific problem to us.

Dog beds and accessories for very large dogs

Anyone living with very large dogs knows the problem: Many dog beds are simply too small.

Part of our range was also developed from our own experience. For Great Danes, Mastiffs, Cane Corso, Rottweilers, and other large dogs, beds that are truly large enough are required. That is why we offer, among other things, oversized dog beds – for example, models up to 1.80 m in length.

A large dog should not have to curl up in a bed that is too small. It needs enough space, good cushioning, and a product that meets its weight and size requirements.

Quality, craftsmanship, and selected materials

At Charlotte’s Choice, we place great importance on high-quality materials and careful workmanship.

Many of our products are handcrafted in Europe.We work with experienced manufacturers and craftsmen, including partners in Mallorca (Spain), China, Switzerland, and Germany. Some models are produced or further processed near Cham in the canton of Zug.

Depending on the product, we use durable nylon, robust nickel-free metal components, stainless steel rings, padded materials, softshell, neoprene, Velcro surfaces, and original AustriAlpin Cobra buckles.

Our claim is that a product not only looks good when unpacked but also convinces in daily use. Especially with large dogs, every detail counts: the width of the collar, the quality of the seam, the durability of the buckle, the padding, the D-ring, and the connection to the leash.

Consultation for the right size and fit

A good collar must fit properly.

Therefore, we are happy to advise our customers in selecting the appropriate size, width, color, and design. Especially for large dogs, it is important to measure the neck circumference correctly and to choose a collar that is neither too tight nor too loose.

Our collars are available in many sizes, some up to 80 cm neck circumference and more. Depending on the model, there are different widths and designs to ensure the collar fits the dog and the intended use.

For customers in Germany and Austria, it is important: Our shipments are processed in such a way that no additional import costs arise upon receipt of the delivery. Customs clearance and the relevant duties are already taken into account during the shipping process.

Depending on the product and availability, we ship from Switzerland, Spain, or Germany.
